Keeping Loved Ones Close: A Gentle Guide to Memorial Jewellery

Quiet remembrance corner with a keepsake boxGrief has no set timeline, and there is no right way to remember someone you love. Some days, a photograph or a familiar story brings comfort. On others, you may want something small and tangible to keep close.

Memorial jewellery is one way to honour that connection. It does not take away the loss or ask you to move on. It can simply give your memories a place in everyday life, in a way that feels personal to you.

🤍 What is memorial jewellery?

Memorial jewellery is a piece created to remember someone special. A resin memorial stone can hold meaningful inclusions, such as a small amount of ashes or hair, within a pendant, ring or another jewellery design.

I handcraft the resin memorial stones in my Bayles workshop in Victoria. The jewellery settings are made separately mainly by skilled craftsmen in the UK; my work is creating the personal stone that holds your precious inclusions.

❤️ A connection you can keep close

For some people, wearing a memorial piece offers a quiet moment of connection. It might be a pendant resting near your heart, or a ring that brings a memory to mind when you look at your hand.

You can wear your piece, save it for meaningful occasions or keep it somewhere special. There is no obligation to explain its meaning to anyone, and no particular way you need to feel when you hold it.

💛 Remembering people and animal companions

The love you shared with a parent, partner, child, friend or beloved animal companion is personal. Your remembrance can be personal too.

A memorial stone may hold ashes or hair connected with that bond. If you have another meaningful material in mind, contact me so we can discuss whether it is suitable before you send anything.

🌿 Choosing a piece at your own pace

You do not need to have every detail decided before you reach out. You might begin with a design you like, a favourite colour or simply a question about what is possible.

  • Choose a design: Think about whether a pendant, ring or another style feels right for you.
  • Consider the stone: We can discuss colours, effects and how you would like your inclusions to appear.
  • Ask about your materials: Confirm suitability and packaging before sending your precious inclusions.

Take the time you need to decide. A memorial piece is an option, not a step you have to take in your grief.

💫 A stone with its own character

Each resin memorial stone is made individually. Its colours, patterns and inclusions give it its own character, so the finished appearance will naturally vary from examples you have seen.

My aim is to create a personal keepsake with care, reflecting the choices we have discussed and the meaning your materials hold for you.

📦 Sending inclusions and allowing time

A complimentary Inclusion Kit is available as an optional add-on. It provides equipment and instructions to help you package your precious materials. You can post your inclusions or arrange to drop them off at Bayles.

For silver memorial jewellery, turnaround is generally a standard 8 weeks but can be sooner and can also vary depending on current orders and my life/family circumstances. Gold jewellery has a minimum turnaround of 12–16 weeks from receipt of inclusions. Please check the individual product details and contact me about timing before ordering if you have a particular date in mind.

💙 When you feel ready

If you would like to explore a memorial piece, I am happy to answer your questions without pressure. You can start with a conversation, or take your time looking through the designs.
